From redundancy to self employment
Just over two years ago I was working as a sales rep for a fairly well known company in Hyde, and had never seriously considered working for myself. After all, what could I do? Would it work out, and would I be able to pay the bills each month?
In October 2007 I was beginning to hear rumours of redundancies at work. Having worked with the company for just a short while I knew that if I was made redundant, I wouldn't get a penny in redundancy pay. For anyone who has ever been in this situation you will know exactly how it feels. Stress, anxiety and panic all come to mind as I think back. Worse still, it was coming up to Christmas - and I had a family to support.
Three weeks later the inevitable happened and I was unemployed. I spent my time applying for jobs advertised in the Manchester Evening News and on local web sites. Weeks turned into months and I was getting nowhere fast. Something had to be done. I was getting desperate and I had to get a job.
I had even looked at many of the work from home type jobs that you see advertised. I was always sceptical because despite their claims of "earn £80,000 a year" etc, none of them looked like they could really give me anything near the kind of income they suggested.
Almost all the "work from home" plans wanted some kind of payment up front for sharing their secret and money was the one thing I didn't have much of back then. If I was going to spend money up front, then I needed to be convinced that it would be a good investment and worthwhile.
Then I came across something that changed my life, big time. It was a company who were looking for people to work from home promoting other companies like Amazon and Yahoo. All that was needed was a home computer with an internet connection. The best part for me was that they didn't want any money up front. This was something that was definitely worth a go. After all, I had nothing to loose.
I requested their free information pack which was sent to me by email within a few minutes, and within an hour I was beginning to see exactly how I could start to make money again. The pack was informative yet easy enough for anyone to understand and had everything I needed to know to get me earning.
After months of looking for work and the pressures of unemployment, I was beginning to feel inspired. The future suddenly looked a whole lot brighter. Just imagine the possibilities. I began to realise that this could actually work!
To cut a long story short, this was probably the best decision I ever made in my life. Two years on, my life has totally changed. With an income of just over £27,000 last year, I can now afford the things I want in life, and this year will be even better. Thinking back, being made redundant was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
If you have ever thought about working for yourself but never done anything about it, then give it a go! You will get everything you need to start earning great money and this time tomorrow you could very well have made yourself an extra £100!
